A well-sealed coronal restoration is critical to the long-term success of endodontic treatment. Studies show that up to 95% of teeth needing endodontic treatment have existing restorations with caries, cracks or microleakage — often undetectable clinically or radiographically. To ensure long-term success, Dr Kreena Patel:
Removes all existing restorations before starting treatment to assess restorability
Often shares a photo of the remaining tooth structure to assist in planning the final restoration
Places a composite build-up to ensure immediate protection and a well-sealed interim restoration
Kreena usually leaves the tooth with a composite core. Patients are then returned to you for their final cuspal coverage or aesthetic restoration.
